At Balance Your Mind, we understand that you may have a lot of questions before seeking treatment.
Here are some common questions people ask:

Who do you work with? I work with adults (18+) and people experiencing with common mental health difficulties, such as Depression, anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, phobias, OCD and PTSD

Is there anyone who you do not work with? I do not work with people experiencing severe mental health difficulties such as psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, eating disorders

When and where can I have therapy? Therapy will take place remotely via Team's. Therapy times available will be evenings and Saturday mornings.

How do I book an appointment? Complete the online form, email, call or text to book an appointment.

What happens in the first call? In your first call, we will discuss what has brought you to therapy and if CBT would be a suitable approach.

How many sessions will I need? Session will depend on the difficulties presented as well as your own individual contribution to therapy. Typically, the average amount of sessions is around 10 sessions.

How long is each therapy appointment? Each session will up to 50 minutes.

Do you offer face to face? Unfortunately, not at the moment. Research has shown that video therapy is as effective as face to face.

Can someone else join the session with me? Unfortunately that is not possible, as therapy is a private and confidential space to share and discuss issues being experienced.

Do you except payment through insurance companies? Yes, I only accepted payment for AXA, Avia and Vita Health. All you need to do is to provide your insurance details.

Im feeling anxious and vulnerable, are the sessions confidential? All the sessions and data collected is confidential. The only exception to this if you are at significant risk. ​

What can I expect during a CBT session? During a CBT session, you will work collaboratively with your therapist to identify specific thoughts, behaviours, feelings and beliefs that are contributing to your mental health. Your therapist will then provide you with tools and strategies to help you challenge and change these patterns in order to improve your mental fitness.

How long does CBT take to work? The length of CBT treatment varies depending on the individual and their specific needs. However, CBT is generally considered to be a short-term therapy, with most people seeing improvement within 8-16 sessions.

Do you offer counselling? No, counselling is not offered, however, referral and recommendation to counsellors can be made.
